I had dinner with my husband on Friday night here at Jesus's. I had the chicken nachos and my husband had the chicken mole. Our dinners were very yummy and service was excellent. The restaurant itself is a bit dated but it didn't matter to me since the food and service were great. This was not our first time eating here but each and every time we have, it's been fantastic! Not to mention cheap! We will keep coming back.

Been coming here since I was a kid. The place looks the same! If you are not a stickler for looks, this is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in town. The food is consistently good. The prices are reasonable, the service is mostly good (don't go on a Sunday after church!) and the servings are large. Best Menudo in town!

I've been coming here for so many years!! Love it & will eat here forever! Good authentic Mexican food, friendly staff & great Margaritas!

Have eaten here at least 12 times. The food is always great. The service is terrible!! I have eaten here when I was the only table and I received horrible service. The waitress just don't care. Really a shame because the food is really pretty good. Hope the owner reads this- we need a good Mexican restaurant in MH.

Great Mexican food that you can get in Morgan Hill!!!! Venue not so great but the food makes up for it.

One of my two favorite Mexican places in the area, the other being Govea's on Quimby at Tully. I'll actually drive from SSJ to Morgan Hill to eat there. I confess that I am a shameless creature of habit and almost always order the chili rellenos, which IMHO are excellent. All the usual sides are decent. The wife usually ordered the chili verde but has lately been hyping up their beef soup. It's definitely local-local, can be somewhat lackluster on the service at times, but hey, it's ok with me. Getting to the men's room is not without risk... watch your step - the floor drops off at an odd place.

My new breakfast haunt on Saturday mornings. Order the breakfast burrito to go....then hit the Farmers Market and come back to pick up and go home. Good, simple Mexican fare from nice people.

So, 3.5/5 on yelp is generally a decent meal. Yelp lies here. I went here with my brother in law only to receive essentially frozen costco dishes that were reheated. The chili verde was overcooked and dry (much like the pre-made stuff I've bought at Costco. Surprise!) and the chimichanga resembled the frozen ones that you simply deep fry and serve. The food was edible, as is the pre-made Costco food, but frankly, why would you go out for it? The other thing to consider is availability of alternatives. The south county area is inundated with excellent Mexican food. As such, there's no reason to return to Jesus' restaurant.

JESUS RESTAURANT is a pretty good Mexican spot in downtown Morgan Hill. It's a pretty big hole-in-the-wall with no frills at all, but the food was decent. Besides the dumpiness, my only gripe was a lack of a kids menu - charging my 17 month old $7.99 for a one enchilada dinner is pretty steep. 3.25 stars. No better and no worse than Sinaloa and other spots in DTMH.

  • J B.

The place is old, but clean with a strange smell like rose water. The chips are fresh and the salsa is old. The food is average and the price is fair.

  • Kelley W.

We don't really have much in the way of good Mexican food here in this area, but Jesus is about the best you can find here. I have yet to get a bad meal. We took my parents and even they liked it. There is something to be said about the fact that this is where the "locals" go. Yes, the waitresses are grumpy. Yes, to pay the bill you must go up to the counter, the waitress is not dissing you by not bringing the bill to the table. They really should let customers know that is the procedure though. Keep in mind that the jukebox can be loud and when soccer/football is on the t.v. it can be loud as well.

  • Gill P.

Barely earned one star. Bad service, rude waitress, and the food tasted like it was made days ago and than microwaved. Don't waste your time. :(

    (1)
  • Tanja F.

I got the chili verde and my husband got the carne asada. Both meals were very hearty, tasted slow cooked and flavorful. Both were a great choice for a cold winter's night. The atmosphere is very casual and the service was friendly.

  • Rudy T.

Have been here a few times including today I've never been too impressed with this spot but my mom n pops wanted to go there so I went along with it todays chili verde was definately thee worst I've ever had. So dry that I wouldn't doubt its been in a fridge and constantly re-heated. Won't go there again Although The Shrimp Ceviche is always on point.

  • Noe D.

Bad service, the waitress that helped our table seemed like she wasn't very happy. Plus food wasn't as "Authentic" or at least didn't taste as it was. Could of been the service we were receiving at the time.

    (1)
  • Cindy C.

I tried the chicken mole and it wasn't very good. The sauce didn't have the richness or the sweetness and spiciness that you want in a good mole sauce. My hubby had the enchilada and it was "all right," according to him. My BFF had the shrimp diablo which was shrimp in a spicy red sauce. That was pretty good. Service: We had to ask the waitress for chips and salsa numerous times. They didn't refill our water glasses. I guess they were pretty busy. I don't know why, but it's really hard to find good Mexican food in Morgan Hill. I'm still looking for good mole. Where is it???

  • Ron L.

You walk in, look at the spartan dining room with vinyl covered booths, Mexican music blaring from the jukebox, and the cowboys with buckles bigger than hubcaps and cockaroach killer boots and think...the food had BETTER be good. You open the menu, spy the incredibly low prices and the huge portions on the tables, and think...half of the battle is won...now for the taste test. Everything I have had here passed with flying colors, especially the soups. I usually order soups, thinking "since it's mostly water, it's not very high in calories". Please don't tell me the truth. The cocido de res is my favorite, followed by the menudo. All soups are accompanied by tortillas and a serving of rice and beans. Oh yeah - did I tell you all soups are under $10? Cockaroach killers?? - pointy shoes that can kill the nasty bugs when they dart into corners.

Definitely a hidden gem in Morgan Hill. My family has been going for years, and the food is good and consistent. Parking is really easy, and it's a great place for kids. The music can border on being too loud, but it's fun and it's sure lively. One downside is they don't have hard liquor. The chips and salsa are great, and obviously homemade because the taste isn't exactly the same each time. My fave dish are the enchiladas, the tacos are wonderful, and my foodie partner gets the chimichangas and those look great, too.

I am originally from So. Cal so I've been exposed to some of the best Mexican restaurants around. We visited this place based on a neighbor's suggestion. It was a slow Saturday night for them. I ordered beef enchilada and was very disappointed. I still have yet to find a good Mexican resto in MH.

    (2)
  • Doug G.

Salty enchilada sauce. The Carne Asada dry and not cut up, making it difficult to eat. Granted we showed up about 20 minutes before closing, but before we were finished eating, out came the Hoover. How rude!!! The waitress wouldn't even bring the bill; we had to go to the register to get it. Not even a "thank you", "gracias", "kiss my a**", nothing. At least the jukebox wasn't turned on. You wouldn't have been able to hear it over the vacuum anyway.

  • Annie S.

We found Jesus Mexican two years ago when we moved to Morgan Hill. Our first trip was a little weird - we had to go to the desk to pay our bill instead of receiving it at our table. Since then, we have come to know that that is the standard operating procedure. Jesus Mexican is our family's favorite Mexican restaurant. Their burritos are better than any of the dozens of taquerias in town and just as inexpensive. Every other dish is yummy also. ----------------------10/8/12 Since I wrote this original review, we have adopted J-Mex as our go-to restaurant in Morgan Hill. The waitresses know us by name. Sometimes they can be busy and service is slow, but the waitresses are hard-working gals. Service is only slow when they're busy - otherwise it's prompt. Everything is delicious! I've had Chilequiles for brunch, Albondigas when I'm sick (it has healing properties ; ), tacos when I'm dieting but my staple order is Cheese Enchiladas. I've heard so many people say that Sinaloa is the best and when I ask them why, they always reply "they have great margaritas!". I want my Mexican restaurant to be known for it's great food, not drinks.

  • Daniel H.

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food this is the place to go. Although the décor is a little out dated, the food more than makes up for it.

    (4)
  • Molly M.

I've heard about Jesus' for years and finally gave it a try last night. I ordered two beef tacos. They were disgusting. I put my lips to one taco and couldn't even take a bite because it was so nasty. Luckily there were rice and beans on my plate. They were just OK. The chips are gross and the salsa was not my favorite either. I've heard the Huevos Rancheros is good, but I'm not sure I'm willing to go back and give Jesus' a second chance. If you want a good crunchy taco, go to Taco Bell.

    (1)
  • Wayne P.

So the kid of the owner sends me a message advising me that I "Suck"... then proceeds to write a 5 star review for the place. Dude I gave the place 3 stars which means "A-OK" because I don't make a habit of slamming places unless they are terrible. And when I said the Salsa had "not much heat" I was referring to the taste not the temperature. Anyway. Jose G's review speaks for itself. This ill conceived diatribe describing things as the "bombest" is a violation of Yelp's TOS.

    (1)
  • Alex R.

Been here a few times trying to find new Mexican eats......wow disappointed! Service was slow every time and the place was empty. Food didn't taste fresh. Will not return. I'd stay away there are better options

  • Scott C.

Nothing special. Classic heavy Mexican food. But if that is what you like then this is your place. Could use some Spring cleaning though. Service was average with low prices.

  • Jenn W.

My husband and I were very disappointed in this restaurant. The service is LOUSY!!! Do not go here if you expect refills, prompt food delivery, etc. It took forever for a server to take our orders, and by the time she got to us, she took both our drink order and food order because we never got a drink order taken. The chips and salsa were both cold when they got to us (we prefer nice warm chips). We waited what seemed like forever for the food (in the meantime, the server never refilled our drinks). Finally after a different server brought out the food, the servers disappeared and didn't reappear the rest of the time. We had to go ask whether to pay up front, etc. I felt like they treated you like a patron at a "fast food" restaurant. You might as well order at the front and fill your own drinks and seat yourself. That is what I felt like. The Hispanic jukebox music was EXTREMELY loud and annoying (servers kept putting on new songs, even though patrons didn't go up and request songs themselves). I saw servers on their phones and chatting with other staff rather than tending to customers. The meal was so-so. Don't bother--go to El Amigo in San Jose if you want better service.

  • Harry F.

The key to this restaurant is ordering the specialties not the combo plates. Best choices are Camarones al Diabla (shells on and spicy, sauce is velvety with butter) Albondigas, Posole, Ceviche, Carnitas.

    (4)
  • ME N.

The food was ok. I've had better off a taco truck. I had the lite lunch with a small chimichanga and rice/beans and husband had combo. The salad was 4 leaves of lettuce and 2 wedges tomato. Decent and what we expected. What we didn't expect was the mute waitress who greeted us by dumping the flatware from about a foot off the table onto our place settings. She had her pad in her hand so we started to order. Our food came out fast and hot but once she placed it down we never saw her again. More chips/salsa and water would have been nice. I waited at the register for several minutes while she placed orders and seated people. I had to step in front of her for the check. I paid and left. Let her figure out why there was no tip.

Still great food, same mess of a interior, eat outside at least you'll be able to breath!

  • Zippity D.

It is amazing to me what people will eat and accept for Mexican Food. I would say this place borders on being no better than Taco Bell, maybe worse. The beans are runny, the rice is stale, the food tastes like someone cooked their gym socks with the Mole. I say no thank you Jesus. Avoid avoid.

  • Victor E.

I sincerely believe first impressions are long lasting, this place is sort of a restaurant trying to find their identity, for me flavor is a main factor to patronize an establishment, and Jesus's just don't have it, way to much of everything on their dishes, I had the fajitas and they were just horrendous, to much oil on everything, and not tender at all. this seems to be a place on decline the service is OK, but it can be much, much better, food is bad, sorry i just had to be honest. maybe i give another try in a couple of months to see if it has improve...

  • Ryan P.

I've been eating at this place since 2000. It's great tasting, well priced Mexican food that is as close to authentic as you get without being in Mexico. Admittedly, customer service tends to leave a lot to be desired, and there is ONE particular waitress who is, quite frankly, a bitch every single time I've gone in there over the last 8 years. But if you place your order to go, and don't really have to interact with the waitresses, this is some of the best Mexican food you'll find.

My friend swears by the Chimichangas here...they rock his world. So he took a group of us to Jesus so that they could rock our worlds as well. (Now, I actually did not know what a Chimichanga was until about a year ago, when I bought a set of Sexual Innuendo Magnetic Poetry...but after that, I decided to try a Jose Ole microwavable ones...not bad, not bad at all for 80 cents!) So we entered the restaurant--it was surprisingly roomy and rustic with colorful sparkling cowboy hats and beer ads all over the walls. I tried out the restroom and it wasn't very pleasant. The floor was all wet so I had to be careful not to slip in my flip-flops. Y's enthusiasm for Jesus' Chimichangas infected us to the point where all four of us ordered a Chicken Chimichanga (He said they were they were better than steak). Our meal started off with a tiny and rather boring salad and mediocre chips & salsa...but then came our Chimichangas! They came in pairs on a little bed of lettuce, topped by sour cream and guacamole, and next to piles of rice and beans. I took my knife and fork and dove in! Sure enough, the Chimichangas were quite yummier than the Jose Ole brand. The outside was crispy and the inside was full of fresh, shredded chicken. I ate mine with guacamole, which I usually dislike, but this worked out...added some moisture. I do not enjoy Mexican rice and beans so I left those alone. So the Chimichangas were good, though I enjoy fajitas more...need my dose of veggies thankyouverymuch. I am going to stick to my fake Mexican food aka Taco Bell. Fun eat though :)

Highly recommended by workers at Gilroy Garden. Excellent Mexican food (just like in Mexico). Nice decor (table cloths) with a nice family atmosphere. One of the best chile rellano's. Excellent Enchilada OK Burrito. Excellent service, waitress' English was very good. reasonable servings! Most patrons spoke Spanish.. We'll go back

  • Courtney K.

Good food that leaves you feeling warm and satisfied. Jesus restaurant doesn't try to be pretentious or fancy. It's down home Mexican food. The huevos rancheros is some of the best I've had. For authentic, satisfying food, it's a must try!

    (4)
  • Cheryl M.

Stopped going here not because the food isn't good (because it is), but because the girls that work there are rude! I use to go in there all the time and every time one of the girls gives me a dirty look for ordering in english. Jesus the owner is the nicest guy if only he could get a better crew.

  • Ann L.

Very very authentic! GREAT food. GREAT price. GREAT atmosphere. I ordered SEVEN SEA and my husband ordered ENCHILADA. Both were GREAT!

  • Juno R.

I really like the Mexican shrimp cocktail. They make it mild so ask for and add jalapenos. Chicken chimichanga was yummy as well.

    (4)
  • Ryan B.

Steady yet unspectactular, is how I would describe Jesus's...they are not out to impress anybody with their service or ambiance, but they offer quality food, reasonably priced, with large portions. If you are looking for a place to eat outside, have a beer and be casual this will fill the bill.

    (3)
  • Paul E.

The food was very nicely priced (none of the selections we had at our table were over $11). I don't know what food is like in Mexico, really, but it seemed authentic enough to me... beans, rice, cheese, chips, salsa, etc. It tasted pretty good. My wife, who has gluten and dairy allergies and issues with sweeteners other than fruit, did not have any negative reactions to the food (she beans, rice, and beef tacos, all without cheese, as well as the chips and salsa). Our waitress did not speak great English, but she was very cheerful and helpful and definitely tried her best, which is much more important than English vocabulary. We ate outside. I didn't go inside, but others in my group said it was too loud, so they chose to sit outside. It was a wonderful summer evening in Morgan Hill, and eating outside was quite nice, aside from a few not-unexpected flies.

Slow service, dirty dining room, annoyingly loud music, fair food. Disappointing.

  • Z G.

Well Cindy is not Mexican (but I don't know her personally so maybe she is) but she is right on the money when she says this place is 'authentic' !! I am as Mexican as Emiliano Zapata...or close enough. My parents are Mexican, their parents are Mexican & their parents and on & on ...OK - you get the picture. In family food is #1, where everyone congregates in the kitchen before, during and after the meal, where the kitchen is the most important room in the house. When I want to eat an authentic Mexican meal that reminds me of home, this place comes pretty close. They have some pretty darn good Chavelas too. Served in an over sized mug with the beer of your choice & topped with a couple of shrimp....YUM, it's a meal in itself. The Caldo's (soups) are flavorful with all the fixxings!! I love that they have a jukebox because in my house there is always music in the kitchen.

    (4)
  • Karlita C.

I used to live and die for this place. Definitely the best Mexican food in Morgan Hill. The salsa is super hot which I love. The food is full of flavor and very reasonably priced.

    (4)
  • Mari D.

Probably the most authentic Mexican cuisine around. The restaurant could be a bit cleaner. I am taking one star away for that. They also need to update their restrooms. The food is good and they have lots of choices. Lots of dishes a quite greasy but they are authentic, not modified to be low fat, which I also appreciate. Be careful about asking for extras, though. We were charged $1.25 extra for 1 oz of Ranch ( that costs $1 per bottle ). We did not like the fact that they did not tell us the price for that sad ranch in advance either. But we'll still go back. Love their soups and Huevos Rancheros

Living near the border, we are used to having fairly authentic Mexican food. Experiencing cravings for foods south of the border, we decided to try out Jesus' Upon entering, things feel a little strange. The restaurant decorations vary from gaudy mirrors to large Budweiser posters. There are few TVs placed in the main eating area. Really, we felt more like strangers in someone's living room than we did guests in a restaurant. The waiting staff wasn't terribly friendly and quickly went through the motions of taking our order. We sat for a while, awkwardly, glancing about now and then until the food came. A big plus for them though, was how wonderful the soup was. Great bonus on top of teh standard chips and salsa starter. The main course came fairly quickly after and we were both happy with our lot. The tortillas were tasty, the spanish rice was good and the beans standard. Their mole was more savory than what I've had elsewhere and the sauce a bit too thick. But still, not bad. I was shocked to find mole at all. My husband had carnitas and that was more on the crispier side that he loves. Our only other small quip is that they seem unable to give us a normal receipt. Being that we were allowed to expense the meal, we would have rather had the receipt needed to do that. But, for most, that wouldn't be a problem.

Great food! This is my favorite place to go for Mexican food in Morgan Hill. They have great tasting food, great serving sizes, and inexpensive prices. They are fast and very friendly. We always get the Super Chicken burrito, nachos and the cheese quesodilla. Love it!!

    (5)
  • Chris G.

Service is ok.Salsa is watery and not much kick...I had a Carne Asada Super Burrito..(gross) It was barely warm and lacked any kind of sticky like freshness to the wrap itself.Almost as if the whole burrito was premade and then the last step was to throw in the VERY salty and grisly meat.I have had way better in the frozen section. So ..yeah..jukebox is there..ok.big deal.place was dead...and to hear it that loud was kinda annoying.

    (2)
  • Tracey F.

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in Morgan Hill. The restaurant is unpretentious, but consistently serves good food at reasonable prices. At times the service is a little slow, and the jukebox has a disconcerting way of starting up when you least expect it...but to me it's worth it for the yummy beans, delicious tacos and savory salsa--not to mention their incredible breakfasts. If they served hard liquor this place would be perfect!

  • Bullet S.

Being from Houston, it was very difficult to adjust to Cali-mex food after being raised on Tex-Mex. Yet, Jesus comes close, and it's by far the best restaurant that serves plate dinners. I have other burrito & taco favorites, but when I want to sit down and grub on a complete plate dinner, this is the place to go. I love their chile rellenos and cheese enchiladas. The salsa leaves something to be desired, but that's not what I go there for. Atmosphere is not the best for a first date, but if you want take-out, get it here!

    (4)
  • Mary H.

Order take out to avoid the jukebox. The food is good, prices decent, and worth going to pick up. Shredded beef tacos are where its at - chips & salsa are pretty good, too.

  • Donna Z.

San Jose has some pretty damn good authentic Mexican places, so when I heard rave reviews about this place, me and the bf went for lunch. What a disappointment! We were sneered at by our waitress and were ignored...for seemingly no reason. I swear we were nothing but polite! It was busy, but not unmanagable enough that we should have to ask twice for refills and more salsa--and then still not get them. The table next to us sat down 20 mins after us, but had their food 15 mins before us. (We ordered enchiladas and tacos...nothing special that should warrant a longer wait). The food was pretty bland, in my opinion; with this kind of service as well, it's definitely nothing to come all the way out to Morgan Hill for.

  • Irene G.

i tired this place because i heard it was decent however i was not impressed. first of all the service was slow. when we arrived there were about 5 other people. after ordering it took almost one hour to get our food. i'm a huge fan of fajitas so that's what i ordered. i have no idea why it took so long to get our food. we were also ignored by the waitress. once we got it i was upset at how bad my fajitas were. the chicken tasted like it had been boiled and then just thrown on to the plate. the rice and beans were cold. i will not be back.. now i know if i want good mexican food i can drive 3 minutes down the street to la choza taqueria.

  • Cindy K.

this place is a hole in the wall, secret gem in morgan hill.... it's on a dark street, next to houses, construction, a closed off road, and a martial arts studio. the food is authentic and tasty with reasonable prices. the chavelas are made with beer, lime, tomato juice or clamato, spices, in a big frosty mug with shrimp garnish. it was good... in between a bloody mary and a beer. chicken mole was a little different but still good. the carnitas and the chili verde are always a favorite. guacamole is fresh and the salsa is hot and sooo good. close, convenient, and tasty. ***update... went there tonight 3/4/07 for dinner and it was crowded. service wasn't as good as in the past, probably because the place was packed. but i got the camarones a la diabla, it was hella spicy but good. it might be my favorite now. gotta say that it is definitely homestyle taste... i'm not mexican so maybe it was wrong of me to say it's authentic? none of the waitresses really speak english...it might be hard to try to ask a question regarding a menu item... but i was happy with the food and it was all very good.

  • Caleb C.

ate here today for the first time. solid food, would not rave about the place but it was good. i had the burrito, others had tacos and enchiladas. Everyone seemed to think the food was decent. not sure i would call this food "authentic" as Cindy's review does but it is good.

For an authentic Mexican food experience Jesus is heavenly. The atomsphere is a litte raw but you won't care if you like fresh mexican seafood. We have been eating here for over 15 years and its just a wonderful family owned restaurant with amazing dishes.

    (5)
  • Jess F.

My boyfriend loves the menudo here, and the coctel de camaron. I have tried just about everything, in an attempt to find something that tempts my taste buds. It's totally not authentic, unless to you authentic means "sauce out of can over meat with tortilla." I really think they use the same sauce for everything, be it huevos rancheros, enchiladas, whatever. They use heavy cheddar cheese, soupy tomato sauce, and lots of frying. Hey, some people like that. Oh, and it's hot as balls in the summer.

    (3)
  • Lucy W.

So so... The staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is okay and the food was okay, if you are into Mexican food I would go check it out and form your own opinion, for me it was "fine"...

  • M. C.

This is not a fancy restaurant, however they have authentic and really great mexican food. Superb mexican soups and the most amazing burritos grande (under $5.) you've ever had. Service is OK, it helps alot if you speak spanish, but you'll do just fine if you don't. They have a porch with tables for outside eating in the summer that is really nice. Overall this is a great bargain and the food is the best Mexican food in the area by far.

  • Jake O.

Really good authentic hole in the wall. Just off the main drag so usually not very crowded. Huge burritos and great chips and salsa. A little worn down and sketchy interior and tables but you can't beat the food

The best most authentic mexican food ever! The only place i can get a chili Colorado buritto. Everyone is down to earth and very nice. Huge huge portions! The service when its busy is a little slow but worth the wait. Dont come in here with your nose in the air this is not the place for that. Real good honest people making real good food!!

I love the food here! This is our favorite Mexican restaurant , and the service is great too. I recommend the chicken quesadilla and pico de gallo. The Chevelas are yummy as well.

Very traditional Mexican restaurant. The waitresses are shy and speak limited english, but they try to please. We've been going there for 3 years now, and it's always the same. We've never had a bad meal.

Love the food, but customer service sucks! Asked the waitress for extra limon, never got it. Then Trying to flag down another waiteress and no one comes. We will be right there. Nothing.

My favorite Mexican Food Restaurant in Morgan Hill! They have thee best shredded beef tacos! My 12yr. old daughter likes to eat chips & salsa at the tables outside. This is the beast place to eat when the Thursday night concerts are downtown. Excellent service and the prices are very reasonable.

I mean, for a semi-historic place in Morgan Hill, it's okay. I have great things to say, but also a few eh-meh-so-so's. Salsa - that's two of the stars. SO GOOD! spicy, not chunky, not runny, just.. perfect! Service - salsa is spicy, waters weren't automatically brought to table.. why? The wait staff was fairly attentive but went MIA at the end until we figured out we paid up front. fail! as a server, always provide the most info you can when you don't recognize a customer.. anyways.. on to the food. Food - I ordered the steak fajita thing.. but I was served a blackened beef jerky wannabe meat substance that even my steak knife they provided suffered the slicing.. it was the hardest flank steak I've ever had. they cooked out all the nutritional value of ordering meat in the first place! though - I'm sure they make other delicious plates... but I'll go when I'm not starving, in case I just want to watch my company eat while I nibble on chips n salsa while my plate cries under my dis-satisfied face. Decor - okay, it was SUPER home style and comfy. Def a sweats/jeans and a bring the whole family vibe (no, seriously.. write grandma a letter and iMessage the baby that the family is having lunch on Saturday) I give the decor a 4/5 for comfort. Drink - margarita.. uhm, I shoulda specified i wanted it on the rocks but instead I got a brain freeze from the (super strong) adult icee. not bad, but meh... I had a headache before my buzz, which kinda killed the whole thing. Price - it was fair for my experience. I would have tipped more, but.. you know why if you've read this far.

Sorry but this used to be much better.........now the drab of the interior is also creeping into the food. Even when they were on my regular restaurant rotation, I would only order limited items as much of the menu was okay not great. Unfortunately, the last visit ended even that perception. My go to is camarones ala diabla (chili shrimp) and my wife's is either 7 mares (fish soup) or cocido (Vegetable Beef soup)..........she started with 7 mares...........it was un eatable, completey over cooked. So we went to the Cocido. It was band as ever, like they threw the beef and vegetables into the broth right after we ordered it instead of it being slow cooked for a couple of hours. My shrimp was amazingly over cooked........which makes shrimp uneatable even if buried in chili (which can fix lots of things.) Worse was the service. Getting the 7 mares sent back took forever. Moreover we asked for diet cokes, took 4 requests to get the waitress to bring them..........and since both my wife and I are fluent in Spanish, having been raised in Mexico, that was not the problem. The problem was that the waitress was too busy texting on her cell phone................bottom line, Jesus's will not get repeat business from us.

Always fantastic food! Freshly prepared to order with quality ingredients, my family and I have been patronizing this establishment for more than a decade. The service may sometimes be slow, but it's expected when the dining room and outside patio are packed. All the servers speak English, but knowing a little Spanish can go a long way. Our go-to menu items are the menudo (beef tripe soup with homeny), chile reno (egg battered, cheese stuffed, fried sweet chile), enchiladas, and caldo de res (beef & vegetable soup). Expect a bit of a wait on weekend mornings, especially after church is out!

Went to this place twice on a lunchbreak while in the area. The food was excellent both times and the service was what I would expect from a medium sized Mexican restaurant. I got the SUPER burrito as I always do as my judgement of food. It did not disappoint. I was very full afterward. They covered it in green sauce per my request. You are offered two different choices of hot sauce on the table. The layout is a little strange to me. Your first glance into the dining area is a huge BUDWEISER mirror. It tends to standout in what looks like a halfhearted attempt at "nice" decor? The place looks like it hasn't updated in 3 decades. Although it IS clean at your table, it has a very worn look to it. Some may call this "warm" I call it desperate for a fresh coat of modern colored paint and some renovations to the booths, tables and chairs. Please get some new carpet or better yet, some real nice hardwood floors. There is not ample parking, but since there was maybe two other patrons there, it was not a concern. If the place livens up at night, you may have to search a little bit. So that's it. I'd go back if I was in the area, maybe try eating outside next time if it isn't too hot.

Pretty good. I tried the Huevos rancheros. Served different than what I'm used to, eggs were not on a tortilla, tortillas were on the side. Ranchero sauce good. There chips tasted fresh, nice and thin. Salsa is excellent.

Not authentic Mexican food. Chips and salsa were not a good start - bland and a bit stale. I ordered the Chicken Mole.. it should have been called chicken drowning in red salty gravy. The rice was okay, but the beans are clearly canned and packed with salt. So disappointed.. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead if one is because our waitress was so sweet. Sadly not returning and would not recommend.

I compare and rate Mexican restaurants how the chili rellanos are made and what they taste like. The rellanos are the best I've had and equally as yummy as the ones my Tio chef used to make. The carnitas are also well made. And if you want a beer try a Chevala, it's a combo of your favorite Mexican beer, tomato juice, celery, and shrimp - like a Bloody Mary with beer. When I want real home tasting Mexican food I come here.

This is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant in Morgan Hill. We usually go there at least once a week. My favorite dish is the shrimp and crab enchiladas. The place is old with wood paneling on some walls. Yes the carpet is coming apart in some spots, but I don't go there for the decor. One word of advise is don't wait for the check. When you're through with you dinner walk up to the counter and they will take care of you there. Provecho.

The food came out hot and looked very delicious, but by the end of the meal I'd have to say that my experience at Jesus Taqueria was not very good. I got the chicken fajitas and while they were tasty, I started to notice a disturbing trend... The butter and lard was actually soaking through the tortillas, beans, chicken, salad...and well...everything..Looking back on it I wish I could have taken a picture, it was that bad. Suddenly everything was not so tasty anymore and I could practically feel my arteries clogging just looking at it. I thought maybe it was an isolated incident, but my dad's burrito across the table was doing the same thing. It's rare that my dad won't finish a burrito (he's a connoisseur of Mexican food), but he couldn't even stomach it. My mom ordered a salad which consisted of iceberg lettuce and ranch dressing. No harm no foul, but there were no frills or even dark greens in the salad; she was disappointed. If you enjoy meals drenched in butter, and I mean drenched...you'll love this place. As for me..? I won't be back in a hurry.

Not fancy, but good home cooking. Weekends: a special event for myself: "Pasole". Simply a delicious old world Mexican soup made with chunks of pork with all the trimmings. Carne Asada burritos are "Huge" A burrito is enough for two people. Everything is very reasonably priced. I take all who come to my house to this restaurant first! A must try. Closed on Tuesdays...

Don't go here if you're looking for glitzy, shiny, over-hyped, generic Mexican food. Do go here if you want authentic tasting, creative Mexican food. The decor inside is, well, not much of a decor. I like that. It's simple - it's unpretentious; maps of Mexico and sombreros on the walls. I don't go there to be distracted by bright, shiny objects and all-year-round Christmas lights hanging everywhere. I go there for hearty, flavorful food. I've tried several different entrees (burritos, enchiladas, chili rellenos) and have enjoyed all of them. The rice and beans are always spot-on - moist, flavorful, with the right creamy texture (which can ruin a Mexican meal in my book if they're not spot-on). The salsa delivered with the chips is quite excellent; maybe the best I've had. It's got a kick along with several distinct flavors coming through. Jesus' is also known for their seafood. Very authentic, creative, and generously portioned. If you like shrimp with a Mexican flair, try one of their many dishes with shrimp. I know of many people who come here just for that. The service can be a little hit or miss at times, that's the reason for 4 and not 5 stars. I've never had BAD service, but it could've been a little more expeditious at times. It's never been bad enough to rip the place or stop coming; if I did that I'd be missing a fine meal.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
